PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a flame-retardant resin composition excellent in flame retardancy, heat resistance and mechanical properties while suppressing vaporization of a silane coupling agent; and a molded article using the same.;SOLUTION: A production method for a flame-retardant resin composition comprises (a) a step of producing a silane masterbatch by melting and mixing a polyolefin-based resin, an organic peroxide in an amount of 0.01-0.6 pt.mass, and a metal hydrate in an amount of 120-300 pts.mass each to 100 pts.mass of the polyolefin-based resin, where the metal hydrate contains ≥40 pts.mass of a surface-treated metal hydrate surface treated by a silane coupling agent in a rate of 0.5-8.0 pts.mass to 100 pts.mass of the metal hydrate, at the decomposition temperature of the organic peroxide or higher; and (b) a step of molding after melting and mixing the silane masterbatch and a silanol condensation catalyst; and (c) a step of crosslinking the molded article of the former step by bringing it into contact with moisture.
