METHOD FOR MEASURING ACTIVITY OF SPHINGOMYELIN SYNTHASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for measuring the activity of sphingomyelin synthase (SMS) simply and at high speed, and a high speed screening method for an inhibitor or an accelerator of the activity of SMS by utilizing the method.;SOLUTION: The new method for measuring the activity of SMS includes mixing sphingomyelin produced by SMS with a composition comprising sphingomyelinase, alkaline phosphatase, choline oxidase, peroxidase, and a fluorescent reagent without separating sphingomyelin, generating a fluorescent substance, and measuring the fluorescence intensity of the fluorescent substance.
