PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively correct characters including different character types.;SOLUTION: The character recognition system includes a storage part, a correction part and a character recognition part. The storage part stores a character code as a recognition result of a character, which is included in a document image read from a document and a character image corresponding to the character code. The correction part displays, on a screen, a list of character images having identical character codes stored as the recognition result in the storage part; specifies a character image which should be corrected based on the list of the character images displayed on the screen; and specifies to recognize the specified character as an object, with the character type of which is different from the character type of the character as the recognition result of the specified character image.
