PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for monitoring of an optical communication line, capable of specifying an optical fiber connection where an environmental change has occurred, even if the optical fiber connections of an optical cable are in proximity.;SOLUTION: The optical communication line monitoring system includes: a plurality of detector modules 15 sequentially arranged in the longitudinal direction of a testing optical fiber 11; an reflection element 21, which is disposed in the testing optical fiber 11 between the detector modules 15 adjacent at a distance narrower than a predetermined length, for partially reflecting a testing light transmitted through the testing optical fiber 11; an OTDR 19, the distance resolution power of which is the predetermined length, for specifying the site where the environmental change has occurred, by obtaining an light waveform of a light level corresponding to the distance of an output light by receiving the output light output from the one end of the testing optical fiber 11, and by comparing a reference waveform of the light waveform obtained beforehand and the measured waveform of the light waveform obtained by the current measurement.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
