PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently collect transaction-separated metrics in a distributed environment for monitoring software.SOLUTION: Step 1000 includes maintaining a tree data structure of a manager with branches which represent sequences of invoked components of at least one application, such as by start and stop points of the components. Step 1002 includes receiving a report of dynamic data and an identifier of a matching branch from an agent. Step 1004 includes, on the basis of the identifier, identifying a sequence of invoked components. Step 1006 includes, on the basis of the identifier, looking up static data associated with the invoked components of the transaction. Step 1008 includes providing a user interface with a transaction trace of the sequence of invoked components of the transaction. Step 1010 includes annotating the transaction trace on the basis of the static and/or dynamic data.
