PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel calixarene compound which, when an epoxy resin composition is prepared, can be used as a curing agent for epoxy resin having good solubility and capable of imparting high heat resistance to an epoxy resin cured product.;SOLUTION: The calixarene compound has a specific structure represented by formula (I-1). (In formula (I-1), n is a number of 2-20 on an average; in its unit structure, with respect to each of n repetitions, R1, R2 and R3 may be the same or different; R1 is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent represented by formula (I-2); at least one R1 in one molecule is a hydrogen atom; R4 in formula (I-2), with respect to each of n repetitions, may be the same or different and each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a 1-18C hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent).
