PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a deterioration in an operation service as much as possible and also to avoid a collision to safely operate cars when a horizontally movable special car or a normal car is in a failed state.;SOLUTION: A multi-car elevator includes: at least two normal cars 13, 14 that are regulated to run upward and downward only through two shafts, respectively; and at least one special car 17 that is movable in a horizontal direction between the respective shafts. In the multi-car elevator, a group supervisory control system 30 includes: a failure shaft detection unit 32 for detecting a shaft in which a failed car stops, as a failure shaft; a car attribute detection unit 33 for detecting an attribute of a failed car; a failure floor detecting unit 34 for detecting a floor where the failed car stops, as a failure floor; and a first failure operation control unit 35 that, when the special car 17 is in a failed state, controls the movement of one of the normal cars 13, 14 running through a failure shaft side and also makes the normal cars 13, 14 share boarding hall calls from respective floors.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
