PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a raw material of acetic acid or a raw material of MMA utilizing a methanol plant in a good efficiency.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the raw material of acetic acid or MMA includes a reforming process of performing the reforming by introducing lower hydrocarbon gas together with carbon dioxide gas and steam into a reformer filled with a CO2-reforming catalyst, a process of carbon monoxide separation by taking out a part of synthetic gas obtained by the reforming process and separating the carbon monoxide gas from the partial synthetic gas, and a process of methanol formation of forming the methanol by treating the rest of the synthetic gas after taking out the part of it. As the CO2-reforming catalyst, the catalyst obtained by supporting 200 to 2,000 wtppm Ru and/or Rh on a MgO carrier having a specific surface area of ≤0.1 m2/g is preferably used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
