PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicore plastic coated optical fiber capable of suppressing light leakage in bending without enlarging the diameter and reducing the density of the core.;SOLUTION: A multicore plastic coated optical fiber 1 including a plurality cores 11, and a sheath layer 12 coveringly formed around the outer peripheries of the plurality of cores 11, includes at least a central area A1 and an outer peripheral area A2 formed around the outside of the central area A1 in the end cross section when viewing the cross section in the direction orthogonal to the axial direction. The outer peripheral area A2 is disposed substantially concentric with the central area A1. In the end section of the multicore plastic coated optical fiber 1, a sheath layer area occupied by a single core of the cores 11 in a total area of the central area and the outer peripheral area is 22 μm2 or less, and the sheath layer area occupied by the single core of the cores 11 that are present in the outer peripheral area A2 is larger than the sheath layer area occupied by the single core of the cores 11 that are present in the central area A1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
