PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an apparatus for stuffing and crimping a filament tow, which does not cause any trouble such as single yarn breakage of the crimped filament tow and catching of the crimped filament tow by a stuffing roll, and frequent repairs and the like by shut-down due to excess abrasion of a pressing plate for preventing tow projection and the like, and is capable of continuously obtaining the high quality crimped filament tow; and a method for manufacturing the crimped filament tow.;SOLUTION: In an apparatus for crimping a filament tow, a tow width-restricting part (10a) is disposed on an upstream side of a nip point (9) of stuffing rolls (1, 2) of a tow-introducing part (10) of a pair of filament tow-stuffing rolls, and a tow protrusion-preventing part (11a) for preventing filaments of a filament tow (8) from protruding is then disposed on a roll side face including the nip point (9) of the pair of stuffing rolls (1, 2). The difference between a stuffing roll width A and a distance B between inner wall surfaces of a pair of presser plates (15) for preventing protrusion is set to be not greater than 12 mm and not less than 0.2 mm, and a distance C between a tip end of the tow width-restricting part (10a) and the nip point (9) of the stuffing rolls (1, 2) is set to be not greater than 6.0 mm and greater than 0 mm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
