PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing carbon nanotubes, by which long carbon nanotubes can be obtained, to provide long carbon nanotubes, and to provide a carbon nanotube wire using the long carbon nanotubes.;SOLUTION: The method for producing carbon nanotubes includes: an arranging step of arranging a support member 4 on which a catalyst 40 for generating the molecular structure of a carbon nanotube 5 by contact with a raw material gas is disposed, in a reaction tube 2; and a growing step of circulating the raw material gas in the reaction tube 2 and growing carbon nanotubes 5 in such a state that the base end parts 50 of the carbon nanotubes 5 are fixed to the support member 4 and the catalyst 40 for growing is held in the tip part 51. The support member 4 is moved with respect to the reaction tube 2 in accordance with the growth of the carbon nanotubes 5 in the growing step so that the tip parts of the carbon nanotubes 5 stay in the reaction tube 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
