PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contaminant filter which is structured simple, can be produced at low cost and is suitable for installation, for example, between an irrigation canal of a paddy field and the paddy field.;SOLUTION: A contaminant filter for canal comprises a tubular member 1 of which the cross section is formed line-symmetric, a rotary shaft 3 installed at a position of a line-symmetry axis of the cross section of the tubular member 1, and a rotary plate 2 which is configured by joining a plurality of plate-shaped members to the rotary shaft, the shape of each plate-shaped member being the same approximately as a shape formed from an inner circumference and the line-symmetry axis of the tubular member and having a void between the plate-shaped member and the inner circumference of the tubular member 1.
