PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica coating forming method of soft magnetic powder for a dust core, along with a manufacturing method of the dust core, having a high electrical resistance, allowing a high temperature thermal treatment. PSOLUTION: In the silica coating forming method of soft magnetic powder for the dust core, a silica coating is formed on the surface of soft magnetic powder whose main component is Fe, using a hydrolysis solution containing tetraethoxysilane, organic solvent, alkali, and water. The concentration of the tetraethoxysilane is 0.2-1.1 mol/L relative to the entire hydrolyses solution, and the concentration of the water is 20 to 30 times the concentration of tetraethoxysilane in terms of mole ratio.
