PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for forming a heat insulating material containing a particulate matter of foamed polyurethane, and excellent in heat insulating performance.;SOLUTION: This composition for forming a heat insulating material can be obtained by a method including (a) a step in which the particulate matter of foamed polyurethane is added into aqueous dispersion liquid containing an organic binder, stirred and mixed, to thereby allow the aqueous dispersion liquid to penetrate the particulate matter, and to allow the organic binder to adhere to the particulate matter, (b) a step in which a coating layer containing calcium carbonate is formed on the surface of the particulate matter by adding quicklime after raising the temperature of the mixture obtained in the step (a), and water in the aqueous dispersion liquid penetrating the particulate matter is vaporized, and then the temperature of the particulate matter having the obtained coating layer is lowered, and (c) a step in which hydraulic powder selected from a group comprising gypsum and cement is added to and mixed with the particulate matter having the coating layer obtained in the step (b).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
