PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum conductor having very high specific resistance and breakdown voltage.;SOLUTION: The aluminum conductor is an insulation-coated aluminum conductor constituted of a substrate made from pure aluminum or an aluminum alloy and of an insulation coating covering the outer surface thereof, wherein the insulation coating formed on the surface of the substrate is comprised of an anodic oxidation coating having a specific surface area of 25 m2/g or greater. If the specific surface area of the anodic oxidation coating is 25 m2/g or greater, the specific resistance and the breakdown voltage thereof phenomenally increase. The aluminum conductor covered with the anodic oxidation coating exhibits excellent insulation. The anodic oxidation coating is excellent in heat resistance as well.
