PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material of a surface metal film which shows superior adhesiveness to a substrate and has little fluctuation of the adhesion due to humidity change, and to provide a production method therefor.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the material of the surface metal film includes the steps of: (1) preparing a polymer solution containing a polymer; (2a) preparing the mixture liquid by mixing the polymer solution with a monomer in an amount of 30 to 200 mass% with respect to the polymer; (3) forming a cured layer on a substrate by applying the mixture liquid onto the substrate, drying it and curing the obtained film; (4) applying a catalyst for plating or a precursor thereof to the cured layer; and (5) plating the catalyst for plating or the precursor thereof with a metal. At least one of the polymer or the monomer has a non-dissociative functional group that interacts with the catalyst for plating or the precursor thereof.
