PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain recognition of a signal in a front image with high accuracy and at high processing speed.;SOLUTION: A plurality of signal candidate points P1-P5 to be recognized by a red point are detected in a front image, a signal establishment point P2 where lighting of a blue point is recognized at a near position is recognized with extinction of the red point is detected among the signal candidate points P1-P5, candidate point pattern data obtained by analyzing geometric arrangement relation between the signal establishment point P2 and the plurality of signal candidate points P1, P3-P5 is generated and stored. A signal candidate point corresponding to the signal establishment point P2 set in the candidate point pattern data is recognized as a signal point showing a display position of an actual signal by applying a candidate point pattern to the candidate point pattern data which is preliminarily generated and stored for the same approaching direction to the same intersection, and a set of the signal candidate points P1-P5 detected at that point of time by collating arrangement and size.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
