PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent or suppress sputter or a fusing failure due to arc-like movement in a narrow gap gas shielded arc welding applied to vertical welding and performing repetitive oscillation.;SOLUTION: In the narrow gap welding method, one cycle welding operation includes an upward first step Pa for oscillating upward to the vicinity of one tip of a gap starting at the center position of a width direction of a narrow gap destination; an ascending first step Pb for stopping the oscillation only during a predetermined time in the vicinity of the one tip of the gap; a downward first step Pc for oscillating downward to the center position of the width direction of the narrow gap destination starting at the center position of a width direction of the one tip of the gap; an upward second step Pd for oscillating upward to the vicinity of the other opening end starting at the center position of the width direction of the narrow gap destination; an ascending second step Pe for stopping the oscillation only during a predetermined time in the vicinity of the other tip of bevel; and a downward second step Pf for oscillating downward to the center position of the width direction of the narrow gap destination starting at the vicinity of the other tip of the gap.
