PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing an impurity element for selectively removing magnesium, manganese and calcium from a solution containing nickel, and to provide a production method for obtaining high purity nickel sulfate by using the method for removing an impurity element.SOLUTION: The method for producing high purity nickel sulfate includes the following three processing steps in a production process of producing high purity nickel sulfate from a solution containing nickel, which are carried out on the solution containing nickel in the production process. The steps are: a sulfurization step of adding a sulfurizing agent to a part of the solution containing nickel to produce a sulfurization solution comprising a Ni sulfide as a precipitate of the nickel included in the solution and a post-sulfurization liquid, and recovering the nickel component from the solution containing nickel; a solid-liquid separation step of separating, into the Ni sulfide precipitate and the post-sulfurization liquid, the sulfurization solution obtained in the processing of the sulfurization step; and a neutralization step of neutralizing the post-sulfurization liquid separated by the solid-liquid separation step to produce a neutral precipitate containing an impurity element, and recovering the impurity element included in the post-sulfurization liquid.
