P To provide a new polycyclic heterocyclic compound and to provide a hole transport material and a hole light-emitting material composed of the compound and to provide a field-effect transistor and an organic EL device using the compound. PSOLUTION: The polycyclic heterocyclic compound is represented by the general formula (1) (wherein and Z is carbon or nitrogen; RSP1/SPto RSP4/SPrepresents each hydrogen and an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; and A is a quinoline ring or the like). The hole transport material and the hole light-emitting material are composed of the compound. The field-effect transistor and the organic EL device are obtained by using the compound.
