PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer-clad stainless steel plate having an outer layer made of steel containing boron (B) which is optimal for a separator of a solid polymer type fuel cell. PSOLUTION: The multilayer-clad stainless steel plate material for the separator of the solid polymer type fuel cell is formed by combining an inner layer made of stainless steel containing 0 to 0.3 mass% B, with the outer layer made of stainless steel containing 0.3 to 2.5 mass% B, welding the stainless steel at the inner and outer layers, and joining them with a weld metal having chemical components satisfying equations (1) to (4), so as to be integrated: 15Creq30...(1), 4Creq-Nieq17...(2); wherein Creq=Cr+1.5Si+Mo-5B...(3), and Nieq=Ni+30(C+N)+0.5Mn...(4); the atomic symbols in equations denote the mass% of the respective elements comprised in the steel. The method for manufacturing the multilayer-clad stainless steel plate for the separator of the solid polymer type fuel cell comprises the steps of: heating the above material to 1,000 to 1,200C; rough-rolling it; subsequently hot-rolling it at a finishing temperature of 600C or higher; and then cold-rolling it.
