PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst oxidation treatment device which is light in weight, compact, and low in running cost, and can suppress a deterioration caused by a catalyst poison and a catalyst oxidation treatment method using the device. PSOLUTION: In the treatment device for the oxidative decomposition of volatile organic compounds contained in exhaust gas by an oxidation catalyst, a pretreatment catalyst 3a for removing a trace quantity of the catalyst poison contained in the exhaust gas is set on the upstream side in the exhaust gas treatment direction, and a cooling mean 5 for lowering the temperature of the exhaust gas from the pretreatment catalyst is set in a gas passage connecting the pretreatment catalyst 3a and the oxidation catalyst 2a together.
