PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast slab holding roll of a continuous casting machine having excellent resistance against the corrosion caused by sulfur, and longer service lifetime than that of conventional ones, and capable of allowing any breakage accident to hardly occur. PSOLUTION: A cladding-by-welding layer consisting of non-deposition hardening type martensitic stainless steel is formed on an outer circumferential surface of a roll body of a cast slab holding roll to be arranged on a vertical part immediately below a mold of a continuous casting machine, suppressing any crack caused by a sulfur content. The composition containing 1.5-2.5% Ni, 15-17% Cr and 0.6-1.0% Cu is preferable for non-precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
