Reactive ceramming process for preparing comprising the reaction of the starting material and Y YP- glass, ceramic and ₄ YPO. In particular, the present invention may be used at a relatively low temperature, a relatively short time, and at low cost, to synthesize the YPO ₄ ceramic phase pure material. For example, the invention can be used for the production of a large block piece ₄ YPO suitable for isopipe in the fusion down-draw process for making glass sheets of large dimensions.
