PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cooling molten core superior in workability. PSOLUTION: The apparatus 12 for cooling molten core includes: supporting structures 24; a lower part cooling channel plate 22; vertical plates 23; and an upper part cooling channel plate 21. A plurality of the supporting structures 24 are provided between a water-supply chamber 26 formed on a pedestal floor 7 set below a nuclear reactor pressure vessel and a pedestal side wall 13 at intervals in a direction surrounding the water-supply chamber 26. The lower part cooling channel plate 22 is supported on the upper end of each of the supporting structures 24. The plurality of the vertical plates are extended from the upper surface of the lower part cooling channel plate 22 in a direction from the water-supply chamber 26 toward the pedestal side wall 13 and are provided at intervals in a direction surrounding the water-supply chamber 26. The upper part cooling channel plate 22 is spread while rising in a direction from the water-supply chamber 26 toward the pedestal side wall 13 and is supported on the upper end of each of the vertical plates 23.
