PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide secondary particles in which primary particles are hard to dissociate from one another even if carrying out high output charge and discharge. PSOLUTION: This positive electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte lithium ion battery comprises the secondary particles composed of a conductive material, a lithium compound and lithium - transition metal oxide particles 10, wherein the lithium compound 20 does not substantially contain transition metal, and the molar number of lithium in the secondary particle is larger than the molar number of transition metal. This results in obtaining the nonaqueous electrolyte lithium ion battery restrained from the fall of a cycle life caused by the repetition of high output charge and discharge.
