PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic original cover plate opening/closing device capable of making the automatic opening/closing of an original cover plate practicable. PSOLUTION: The automatic original cover plate opening/closing device is equipped with a hinge part 4 for turnably supporting the original cover plate with respect to a machine main body and a driving part 5 automatically driving the hinge part 4. The hinge part 4 has an attaching member 41 to be attached to the machine main body, and a supporting member 42 for supporting the original cover plate pivotally supported on the attaching member 41 via a turning shaft 46 so as to turn together with the turning shaft 46. The driving part 5 has a driving motor capable of normal and reverse rotations, and a motive power transmitting mechanism 52 for transmitting rotational driving force of the driving motor to a driving shaft. By coupling the turning shaft 46 of the hinge part 4 to the driving shaft of the driving part 5, the rotational driving force of the driving motor is transmitted to the supporting member 42 via the driving shaft and the turning shaft 46.
