PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnosis system or the like, capable of detecting a failure location of a solar cell string without requiring for information on a solar cell string with no failure location. PSOLUTION: In a failure diagnosis system, a failure location of a solar cell string comprising a plurality of solar cell modules connected in series is estimated to be diagnosed. The failure diagnosis system includes: a signal generator applying an input signal on a positive electrode or a negative electrode of the solar cell string; a waveform observation device observing an output signal relative to the input signal; and a diagnosis device estimating a failure location based on each output signal. The diagnosis device includes: a storage means storing a string length which is a distance from the positive electrode to the negative electrode; a reflected wave evaluation means evaluating each output signal, and determining each reflected wave arrival time, which is a period from the application of the input signal to the observation of the output signal, to allow the storage means to store the time; and an operation means estimating the failure location based on each reflected wave arrival time, in addition to information on the string length.
