PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device having a frame capable of positioning a light source and suppressing a light leakage, and a display device equipped with the same. PSOLUTION: A recessed portion for holding the light source 13a is provided to the upper surface of the frame 16 in a quadrilateral shape, and a recessed portion for holding an optical sheet 12 etc., is provided to the lower surface of the frame 16.
