PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crossword puzzle answer input control program and the like that enhance rhythmical sense of a game and operability for inputting characters. PSOLUTION: The program causes a computer to execute the steps of: specifying a square currently selected by an operation input means; specifying a vertical/lateral direction currently selected by the operation input means; moving, on the basis of the specified vertical/lateral direction, the input position on a display means to the front position of the word to which the specified square belongs; upon moving the initial and the subsequent input position, showing a character as the initial value on the syllabary on the display means if the character is already input at the moved input position, and of showing a prescribed character as the initial value on the syllabary on the display means if a character is not yet input; and, with respect to the character of the displayed initial value or the character selected from the syllabary, inputting the character at the present input position of a target word on the display means, by the decisive operation using the operation input means, and moving the input position on the display means to the next character based on the vertical/lateral direction.
