PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct an error of an optical 90° hybrid from an ideal relative phase difference between optical path lengths through numerical arithmetic processing without requiring a feedback mechanism.;SOLUTION: A correcting method includes standardization steps (S11 to S14) of obtaining first and second standardized current values by entering and standardizing first and second current values obtained by receiving and digitizing first and second light beams being interference orthogonal components of two light waves obtained by the optical 90° hybrid, and an error calculation step (S15) of calculating the error of the optical 90° hybrid from the ideal relative phase difference between the optical path lengths by a statistical method of calculating a correlation coefficient from two data series of the first and the second standardized current values, and further includes modulated information calculation steps (S16 to S19) of calculating intensity-modulated information and phase- or frequency-modulated information on input light of the optical 90° hybrid on the basis of the calculated error.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
