In the drug therapy for epilepsy, the development of a drug or agent which improves problems of an antiepileptic drug such as a side effect or drug resistance has been demanded. The invention relates to an antiepileptic action enhancer for an antiepileptic drug characterized by containing a leukotriene receptor antagonist, and being administered in combination with an antiepileptic drug, or an antiepileptic agent containing a leukotriene receptor antagonist and an antiepileptic drug in which the antiepileptic action is enhanced. By administering the leukotriene receptor antagonist, particularly a planlukast hydrate which has less side effects and does not cause drug interaction, in combination with the antiepileptic drug, the effect on enhancing the antiepileptic action of the antiepileptic drug, for example an effect on reducing the dose of the antiepileptic drug, an effect on improving the side effects of the antiepileptic drug, an effect on reducing the frequency of epileptic seizure, an effect on improving the degree of epileptic seizure or the like, can be obtained.
