PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation application measurement method usable in an environment of an acid, an alkali, an organic solvent or the like, capable of preventing decline of detection accuracy caused by moisture intervening between a detection part and a radiation source, and to provide a radiation application measurement device having a compact structure wherein the radiation source and a detector can be installed simply on the same optical axis. PSOLUTION: In the method, a detection object cavity 1 is arranged in the sandwiched state between a radiation source part 3 and a radiation detection part 5 arranged oppositely to the radiation source part 3, and a radiation discharged from the radiation source part 3 and passing the detection object cavity 1 is detected by the radiation detection part 5, to thereby measure a characteristic of a detection object in the detection object cavity 1. In the method, the radiation is detected by interposing a non-water absorbent member 11 having a thermal conductivity of 0.1 W/m×K or less, preferably 0.1 W/m×K or less, between the radiation detection part 5 and the detection object cavity 1.
