PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commodity management system and commodity management method capable of easily controlling inventory conditions such as stock out items of commodities and allowing shoppers to know easily the inventory conditions regarding the commodity management system and commodity management method for controlling an inventory on commodity display shelves in a shopping center.;SOLUTION: Information for existence of commodities on the commodity display shelves is detected by commodity detection devices arranged on the commodity display shelves. The information is radio-transmitted to a relay device by radio communication devices arranged on the commodity display shelves, and the information is transmitted from the relay device to a commodity management device via a network. The information transmitted by the commodity management device via the relay device and network is accumulated and displayed.
