PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a metal composite material having strength corresponding to the compound rule is not obtained since the wetting between a matrix metal and a ceramic fiber of a reinforcing fiber is difficult when producing the fiber-reinforced metal composite material, and the composite material of the ceramic fiber with a light metal is chemically unstable due to a carbidization reaction of aluminum or its alloy, metal silicon or its alloy, magnesium metal or its alloy, or the like with the carbon of the ceramic fiber.;SOLUTION: The ceramic fiber after removing the carbon component on the surface of the ceramic fiber is used as the reinforcing fiber.
