PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out platemaking/imposition in a platemaking apparatus managing information pertinent to platemaking or the like. PSOLUTION: This system has: a means for sending information which instructs the generation of a plurality of first imposition templates for laying out page data based on item information indicating an imposition specification, to the platemaking apparatus; a means for sending information which instructs the generation of a plurality of second imposition templates for laying out the first imposition template based on the item information, to the platemaking apparatus; and a means for compositing the received first template data and second template data to generate a composite imposition template. The platemaking apparatus has a means for generating the plurality of first imposition templates based on the item information to send them to a composite imposition template generating apparatus as the first template data, and the platemaking apparatus has a means for generating the plurality of second imposition templates based on the item information to send them to the composite imposition template generating apparatus as the second template data.
