Provided is a magnetic material for magnetic refrigeration that realizes an improvement in magnetic refrigeration efficiency by having a magnetic entropy change above a certain level and the mobility of operating temperature. This magnetic material is expressed by a composition formula of Gd100-xy (HoxEry), and 0 x + y ≦ 25 and 0 ≦ y / (x + y) ≦ 0.6. It is desirable that the magnetic material is substantially spherical particles, and the maximum diameter of the particles is 0.3 mm or more and 2 mm or less.
