Weldable steel construction components have a chemical composition, by wt % of: (a) 0.10 at most C at most 0.22; (b) 0.50 at most Si at most 1.5; (c) Al at most 0.9; (d) 0.5 at most Si + Al at most 2; (e) 0 at most Mn at most 3; (f) 0 at most Ni at most 5; (g) 0 at most Cr at most 4; (h) 0 at most Cu at most 1; (i) 0 at most Mo + W/2 at most 1.5; (j) 0.0005 at most B at most 0.010; (k) N less than 0.025; (l) possibly at least one element from V, Nb, Ta, S and Ca in contents less than 0.3 and/or from Ti and Zr in contents less than or equal to 0.5; (m) the rest being iron and production impurities. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the fabrication of this weldable steel component.
