ALLOCATION, PROGRAMMING AND SIGNALING OF DYNAMIC RESOURCES FOR LTE VARIABLE DATA SPEED SERVICE. A dynamic resource allocation, programming and signaling method and apparatus is provided for real time variable data (RTS) services in long term evolution (LTE) systems. Preferably, data rate changes for higher link RTS traffic are reported to a Node B evolved (eNB) by a layer 1.2 or 3 UE. The eNB dynamically allocates physical resources in response to a data rate change. data by adding or removing radio blocks currently assigned to the data stream, and eNB syllables the new resource allocation to the UE. In an alternate embodiment, tables stored in eNB and UE describe data rate mappings from RTS to physical resources under certain channel conditions, such that the UE uses the table to allocate physical resources locally according to changes in data rates. UL data. In addition, a method and apparatus for high level configuration of RTS data streams is also presented.
