A Compression Ignition Fuel composition comprising diethyl ether (DEE) and water in amounts corresponding to the reaction product of the dehydration of hydrated or anhydrous ethanol (EtOH) with a Water content between or and 30% by weightAdditionally, characterized by: (a) a Weight percent content of diethyl ether which is larger than or equal to 50% by weight and Water content is lower than or equal to 50% less the weight of the ethanol concentration for mixtures containing from 0 to 20% Weight of Ethane L; or (b) a Weight percent content of diethyl ether that is greater than or equal to 54 Below 0.2 times the weight percent of the concentration of Ethanol and a Weight percent of Water content is lower than or equal to 46% by weight less than 0.8 times the concentration of ethanol for mixtures containing 20 to 30% by weight of ethanol; or (c) a% by weight content of diethyl ether and S largest 61.5 less than or equal to 0.45 times the weight percentage of the concentration of Ethanol and a Weight percent of Water content is lower than or equal to 0.55 times the least 38.5% in weight of the ethanol concentration for mixtures containing 30 to 70% by weight of ethanol.
