The invention relates to a tension device (48) for a protective helmet (30) of a carrier tape (47) mounted on the lower edge of the internal equipment (40) for fixing the helmet on the user's head. The carrier tape (47) comprises a headband (44) extending into the occipital tape (46) having two open ends connected by a main element (50) of the tensioning device (48). The tension device (48) has an occipital cup (70) and a main element (50) pivotally connected to each other by means of a transmission lever (80). The main element (50) can be rotated relative to the occipital cup (70) by means of a tension lever (51) pivotally connected to it, supported by the protrusion (52) on the transmission lever (80).
