A method of receiving data in a wireless communication system, comprising: obtaining received symbols for a data transmission comprising at least one data symbol stream sent with space-time transmit diversity (STTD) (510); obtaining an effective channel response matrix for the data transmission (512); deriving a spatial filter matrix with the effective channel response matrix (516); and performing spatial processing on the received symbols, based on a 2-symbol interval corresponding to the received symbols, with the spatial filter matrix to obtain detected symbols (520).
