The present invention refers to a demulsifying composition based on complex cationic, non-anionic and anionic surfactants for demulsifying crude oil of different densities API and operating in dehydrating devices at atmospheric pressure, which is applied in the oil and extraction industry. The demulsifying composition comprises a) from 15% to about 30% of a surfactant selected from the group 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxy methyl)-1,3-propanodiol, a formaldehyde ((C15H24OòC2H4OòCH2O)x)-based alkoxylated resin of different molecular weights where the x is the number of monomers present in the polymer, a simple nonylphenol poly oxyrane (C21H36O4), 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl) phenol with formaldehyde, tetraethylenepentamine (C13H33N5O2), esters such as ethoxylated mono propylene glycol tetraphtalate with 4 ethylene oxide moles or ethoxylated neopentyl glycol dioleate with 6 ethylene oxide moles, 3-amino-1-cicloexhyl aminopropane, 1, 12-diamine 4,9-dioxi decanoate, 1,3-propanodiamine, lauryldimethylamine ox ide (30-40%), cocodimethylamine oxide (40-50%), octyldimethylamine (30-50%) or mixtures thereof, and b) from 85 to 70 of a solvent selected from heavy aromatic naphtha, hexane or methylbenzene, isopropyl alcohol, xylol and mixtures thereof.
