The assembly (1) has a lock bar (4) with a rectangular profile, and two angle profiles (2) that are fastened to a frame element (11) of a window or a door (10). The profiles movably guide the lock bar. A side piece (6) of one angle profile is fastened to the frame element, and another side piece (7) has a recess (8) for retaining and guiding the lock bar, where the pieces are rectangularly arranged to each other. The lock bar has two slots (5) in its longitudinal side for guiding through of the bar via an opening (3) of the piece (7). An independent claim is also included for a method of fastening a lock bar assembly to a window or a door.
