The invention relates to the field of physical and chemical methods for removal of contaminants from soils. Disclosed is a method for removal of uncharged hydrophobic organic compounds from clay-containing soil, which consists in electrokinetic treatment of soil with pumping through an anode electrode chamber of a neutral aqueous solution of mineral salt at a speed of 0.2-0.3 dm/h, the process is carried out at pH 11-12. Implementation of the disclosed method can increase the degree of purification to 95-97 % while reducing time of the treatment process to 2-4 days.
