METHOD FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF ACUTE ODONOGENIC OSTEOMYELITIS OF MANDIBLE

A method for the surgical treatment of the acute odonogenic osteomyelitis of the mandible comprises anesthesia, lancing of abscesses (phlegmons), extraction of the causative tooth, perforation of mucosa, periosteum and cortical plate according to the position of the mandibular canal with sampling of histological specimen. Mucotome is used for perforation of mucosa and periosteum. Then bone trepan is used for perforating cortical plate and spongy substance of the mandible with simultaneous sampling of tissues for the subsequent histological examination.
