METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING LESIONS OF INFERIOR ALVEOLAR NERVE FOLLOWING DENTAL IMPLANTATION

A method for diagnosing the lesions of the inferior alveolar nerve following dental implantation comprises the assessment of the skin sensitivity in the area innervated by the inferior alveolar nerve by measuring the sensitivity threshold. In addition, the functional state of the nerve is assessed with afferent antidromic technique of stimulation electroneuromyography. The amplitude of the action potential of the inferior alveolar nerve is measured. When the action potential exceeds 3 mV, the general neuropathy of the nerve under study is suggested. When the action potential is below 1 mV, the compression-ischemic neuropathy is supposed. The normal range of the action potential is taken within 1-3 mV.
