A process for the transformation of magnetic properties of oxidized iron ores and iron ore wastes for magnetic separation using reducing sources of raw material in the presence of microwaves, comprising grinding of raw material to size less than 0.1 mm with further mixing with reducing agent and heating in electromagnetic field (2450 MHz), which is distinguished in that as reducing agent a starch is used, particularly aqueous solution of starch, and heating is carried out in electromagnetic field to formation of plasma and hold at these conditions about 5 minutes.
