A method for prediction of lethal case in newborns with syndrome of systemic inflammatory response affected with severe asphyxia at birth includes determination of laboratory risk factors for complication of disease with following qualitative evaluation of each factor and effect of those on course of the disease. At the 3 day of life in blood plasma of newborns content of interleukin-6, cystatin-C and haptoglobin is determined, then real values of each index are multiplied by respective coefficients of those characteristics for ones affected with severe asphyxia at birth and survived, and the ones affected with severe asphyxia at birth and died.
