16(METH)ACRYLIC COMB POLYMERS HAVING A HYDROXYPOLYALKYLENE GLYCOL FUNCTION, USE THEREOF AS A SHEAR RATETHINNING AGENT IN COATING SLIPS AND SLIPS CONTAINING SAME 5ABSTRACTThe present invention concerns comb polymers featuring a (meth) acrylic skeleton with side chains of the hydroxy or alkoxy polyalkylene glycol type, and which enter into the composition of paper coating dispersions. They result in maintenance of water retention10 and viscosity under low shear gradient, and considerably decrease the viscosity under high stress, resulting in a counterbalancing of the phenomenon of increased blade pressure, which allows coatings with elevated dry extract and/or at high speeds of deposition. The invention also concerns the coating dispersions thus formulated and their application to the surface of a sheet of paper.15[No Fig.]
